Review of 1st Quarterly Report on Long Term Monitoring Plan for Ecosystem based Conservation Management of Bhitarkanika Conservation Area of OFSDP-II
A review meeting on the progress of implementation of Long Term Monitoring Plan for Ecosystem based Conservation Management of Bhitarkanika Conservation Area (BCA) by the National Centre for Sustainable Cpastal Management (NCSCM), Chennai was made in a meeting convened by PMU, OFSDP – II under the Chairmanship of Project Director on 17th August 2018.
Dr. R. Ramesh, Director, NCSCM made a detailed presentation along with his team on the progress made so far on the assignment of OFSDP – II. It was decided that the map and demarcation of boundaries of Bhitarkanika Sanctuary Area and Bhitarkanika National Park as earmarked by the PCCF Wildlife and Chief Wildlife Warden will be used by the NCSCM in their further studies.
PD, OFSDP directed the NCSCM to include some important findinings by them in the assignment such as the list of mangrove mapped during the survey, ideal range of different water quality parameters and elaborate the quality and pattern of the sedimentation identified.
The NCSCM was also advised to share information on various measured parameters with the State Pollution Control Board, Odisha, Office of the PCCF Wildlife and Chief Wildlife Warden, DMU Chief, Rajnagar(WL) Division and PMC of OFSDP-II for better coordination.
