To enhance forest ecosystem along with sustainable livelihood of local people by improving sustainable forest management, sustainable biodiversity conservation and community development, thereby contributing to harmonization between environmental conservation and socio-economic development in the Project area in Odisha.
The loan agreement for an amount of Rs.1000.30 Crore (17104 Million Japanese Yen) for the Odisha Forestry Sector Development Project Phase II was signed on 31.03.2017 at New Delhi, between Mr. S. Selvakumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India on behalf of the President of India & Mr. Takema Sakamoto, Chief Representative, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) India Office, New Delhi, on behalf of the JICA. This agreement included a loan component of Rs. 848.60 Crores (14512 Million Japanese Yen) as the Loan Component and Rs.151.70 Crores (2593 Million Japanese Yen) as State share. The OFSDP Phase II was formally inaugurated on 27.04.2017 at Bhubaneshwar. The Chef Representative JICA vide his communication No.JICA (ID) 29 – 367 dated 4th Aug. 2017 has informed that the Loan Agreement (L/A) been effectuated with effect from July 2017.
